London is an incredible city, whether you’re living there or just visiting. But it’s also notoriously expensive – particularly if you haven’t taken steps to anticipate the cost. Let’s take a look at a few worthwhile strategies of Big Saving Tips for London.

Save on tickets and train travel

Much of the cost of getting to London can be cut out by booking your train in the right way. Try to arrive outside of peak times, and look for an oyster card to get around via the buses and tube. You might also look at groupsave discounts on the trains, if you happen to be travelling alongside friends.

    Free attractions

A lot of the best things to see and do in the capital are actually free to enter. There are galleries, like the Tate Modern and the National Gallery. There are museums like the Natural History Museum and the British Museum. You might also take the time to stroll around some of the outdoor spaces, too, with Hyde Park and Hampstead Heath being particularly appealing.

    London Pass

Once you’ve exhausted all of the free attractions, there are still plenty of affordable ones to consider. And these are made more affordable with the help of the London Pass. Which will provide free, quick entry to more than sixty places. On the list is the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and the Thames River Cruise.

    Cheap West End tickets

For those who’d like to enjoy a show in the famous West End, spending a lot might seem obligatory. But if you’re willing to buy tickets early, or to wait until the last minute, then you could enjoy a sizeable discount. For the latter, you’ll want to check out the TKTS booth, which sits in Leicester Square, just opposite the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hampshire Hotel. This is the only ticket shop actually supported by the Society of London Theatre, so it should be preferred to the others in the Square.

    Book online in advance

Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to book all of your experiences as far in advance as possible, using the Internet. This will save you the trouble of queuing at your destination. Bear in mind that, if you don’t do this, you risk spending much of your time waiting around and being disappointed. You only have a limited amount of time to spend during your break, and pre-booking will allow you to put it to the best possible use.
